On the visit I will spend some time walking around your garden/greenspace with you to discuss your issues and what it is that you want your garden to be like. This should take an hour or so and you can take notes, ask me any questions you have and I will give advice accordingly. I ask that you send pictures and fill out a questionnaire before I visit to get an idea of your garden beforehand.
Evaluation and Maintenance Schedules:
If you would like a complete evaluation or a maintenance schedule, I will then conduct an analysis of your garden or greenspace to determine the issues arising, whilst make notes and advice as to the best remedy or action needed. My aim is to save you time, money and frustration. It will be specifically tailored to your garden/greenspace and take into account the climate, aspect, soil type and existing fauna and flora. Any details of suppliers and trusted tradespeople will be included if needed and educational tools in the form of book recommendations, websites and videos.
Generally this will take between 1-4 hours depending on your size garden and a fully comprehensive written report can be sent to you detailing the survey of the garden including any questions that arose and also remedial action that should be taken in the future.
I will compose a yearly maintenance guide which will give you an overview of your garden's needs throughout the year. This is helpful if you want to get an understanding of what needs to be done throughout the year, whether it be done by yourself or a gardener. You can work through the schedule and know the correct times to prune, feed, transplant plants and all other gardening tasks that is needed.
Pricing will vary according to the size of your garden plus the amount of advice needed.
Although the internet is a great source of knowledge and books are plentiful, sometimes there can be either too much information or not enough and it can be frustrating to get to grips with horticultural techniques.
Set within your own garden, we will spend the session dealing with the specific techniques that you wish to learn. I will bring all the tools needed and together we will set to the task and hopefully you will come away with the skills and knowledge to get you gardening with confidence in the future.
Some of the skills I teach are:
Pruning - winter and summer
Training of climbing plants and supports of herbaceous plants and shrubs
Vegetable growing, propagation and cultivation
Fruit tree planting, pruning and training
Weed identification and easy ways to manage the invasive ones
How to help wildlife through your gardening techniques
Planting up baskets and pots
Propagation - Taking cuttings and growing your own plants.

Each session will be catered to your individual needs and can be done with up to 3 guests of your choice. Single sessions are offered, however more can be needed throughout the year as the garden changes and specific tasks need to be considered.
