Advice and consultancy
My advice is tailored specifically to you and your garden, with its particular climate, soil, plants and views. I will provide a fresh pair of eyes, an unbiased opinion and advice based on a lifetime of professional gardening and managing garden projects. The aim is to save you time, money, and frustration.
I can help you deal with a range of problems commonly encountered by garden owners. For example:
- How can I make my garden easier to maintain?
- Why are my plants looking sick?
- What’s the best way to screen an unsightly view?
- How do I choose the best trees and plants?
- How can I improve poor soil or get my grass to grow?
- How do I get rid of the weeds, or the pests?
- I’m new to gardening and don’t know where to start?
- Perhaps you know that your garden is not working for you, but you are not sure what to do about it. Is the garden outdated and overgrown, or a blank canvas?
- How can I make my garden more attractive to potential buyers?
- How can I make my office a more productive and positive space with plants?
- How can I make my garden safe and more interesting for young children?
- How can I make my garden more attractive to birds, bees and other wildlife?
- Raised beds
- No-dig organic growing
- Fruit trees - standard trees or training techniques such as step-over, espalier and wall grown can help to give you fresh fruit in even the tiniest of gardens
- Traditional potager gardens
- Allotment style
- Vertical growing
- Pots and troughs for patio growing
- Greenhouse, hot house and cold frames
- Compost and leaf mould areas
Consultancy with report
On my visit, I will assess your garden and we will talk about what you want to achieve. We will walk through your space and address any immediate issues or concerns and how to rectify them. Discussing how you use and work within your garden helps me to understand the best practises for you and how we can get your garden or space looking it's best, any and all questions relating to your space are welcome! I will then take pictures of your space along with a soil sample that I can use to determine your soil quality.
Once back at the office, I will compile a report outlining everything we have discussed. It will have ideas and suggestions as to what you can do and implement to make your vision come to life, along with an action plan of how to go about it. If you have questions on plant design and hard landscaping the report will include suggestions and ideas of what you can realistically achieve. There will be no expectation of further work following the consultation but, you may wish to consider my other services of design, horticulture and further advice sessions.
